Sara founded June Road Press, a small press based at her home in Pennsylvania, in 2020 and has run it independently since, serving as publisher, editor, and book designer. The press has published 10 full-length poetry collections, all first or second books by women, each of which has won or been named a finalist for at least one post-publication award, including four state book award contests. For 2026, the press is pivoting to publish a unique take on the poetry anthology (see below). Future plans include expanding that volume into a series, continuing the poetry line, and eventually branching into prose categories—all with an emphasis on place and the natural world and on careful craftsmanship at every stage of a book’s making.
Sara builds on an early professional editorial and production background in educational publishing to manage and execute all aspects of each title that the press publishes, working closely with its author at the line level as well as developmentally and structurally to build a cohesive creative work of the highest quality. Close collaboration and care for detail are hallmarks of her work behind the scenes to help realize the fullest and most fitting expression of any piece of writing or larger literary work.
Places on the Way: A Poetry Road Trip (June Road Press, November 2026)
A handcrafted collection of 100 place-based poems from emerging writers across the country, framed as a great big American road trip—the first anthology from June Road Press and the initial volume in an intended series.
